West Essex Welcomes 2GNJ for Holocaust Education Presentations

Last week, West Essex welcomed two guest speakers from 2GNJ (Second Generation of New Jersey), an organization dedicated to Holocaust education and remembrance.

Sandy Rosen, a founding member of 2GNJ, spoke with eighth grade students about the importance of preserving Holocaust history and promoting tolerance and understanding. Founded just four years ago with 12 members, 2GNJ has grown to nearly 100, most of whom are children of Holocaust survivors. Their mission is to advance Holocaust awareness while encouraging respect for people of all races, religions, and backgrounds.

At the high school, fellow founding member Fran Levin addressed a nearly full auditorium of ninth and eleventh grade students, along with a handful of sophomores and seniors. Students were extremely respectful and empathetic throughout the presentation, helping to create a meaningful and reflective atmosphere.

The assemblies offered students a valuable opportunity to learn firsthand about the importance of remembrance, empathy, and standing up against hatred.
