Congratulations to our First Marking Period Shoprite Stars!!!

Felicia Lichenstein- Academics
Felicia is an incredibly resilient student. She has experienced significant challenges this year in her personal life with the loss of a family member, and yet, she has remained consistent in her academic performance. I respect and admire her tremendous strength and fortitude as she navigates through what has likely been the most difficult year in her life.

Isabella Vitella -Athletics

Bella is one of the team captains on the Girls Soccer team. She is a great leader and someone who leads by example. Bella always has a smile on her face and motivates our team to be the best we can be. She is playing in college at Caldwell University and has been a member of the West Essex Girls Soccer program for 4 years.

Alexandra Lowenthal - Arts

Alexandra has shown great dedication to the school.
She is a Superior Artist and Is enrolled in:
Photography Independent study.
Computer Graphics 3 Honors.
Yearbook Editor and Chief.

Samuel Goldstein- Leadership

Sam Goldstein is deserving of a ShopRite star in leadership because of the multiple roles he has both within and outside of West Essex. Sam is a captain of both Cross Country and Winter Track, aiding in the development of younger athletes and helping facilitate practices. Along with athletic leadership, Sam is also involved with a plethora of clubs. He is the Treasurer of his class, a Vice-President of both DECA and FBLA, fundraiser for the History National Honors Society, and the Secretary of the Computer Science Club. These positions all demonstrate different leadership qualities and stretch across a wide variety of subjects. Sam also attended the HOBY leadership conference last year as one of three representatives from the school. Outside of school, Sam recently completed the Diller Teen Fellowship program. This fellowship selected twenty students from the “metro-west” area to develop their leadership skills along with religious beliefs. It concluded with a month-long trip to Israel with 600 other fellows worldwide, a week of which was planned by the group of twenty. Since last spring, Sam helped start Deliver Together, an organization that helps bring groceries to people who were unable to leave their houses during the pandemic. He is also now the Director of Community Outreach which essentially means I helped partner with other volunteer organizations and help them deliver care packages and other goodies. In addition to that, over the summer he started Car Wash 2 You with his brother. People scheduled appointments on their website, and Sam and his brother went to their houses and washed their cars from a social distance!

Emma Saccone- Service to the Community

Emma is volunteering as an EMT and has been throughout COVID - She is working many hours and balancing this with the rest of her schedule. Even with her mom having medical issues, she has used extreme precautions coming home after being on calls. She hopes to pursue medicine in college.
