FBI agent addresses students

Mr. Carchietta’s classes are participating in an FBI Teen Academy.  The four-part course provides high school students with a comprehensive look into today’s FBI and the local field office operations.  Sessions deal with a variety of topics including: FBI Operation and Careers;Forensics and Hazardous Evidence; Cyber Crimes; CSI and Intel; and SWAT operations.

The February 5th session featured a special agent from the HERT Forensics unit.  He spoke with students about how he came to work for the FBI and the kind of work that he does there.  He showed students the equipment that they use during investigations and even had a student dress up in the hazmat suit.  The second speaker brought along his specially trained dog. This dog is trained to sniff out very specific electronics. The special agent spoke to the kids about the 24/7 training that he does with his dog to ensure that he is the best he can be. He gave a demonstration, allowing the dog to sniff out electronics that he had planted in the library.
