During the week of March 28th-April 1st, in celebration of April's "Diversity Month," the Multicultural Club, along with the help and support of the Art Honor Society, raised money for the Crayon Project Foundation. The Crayon Project is an organization that focuses on “buying multicultural crayons, markers and colored pencils for schools and non-profit organizations" (Crayon Project). The foundation reinforces that hatred is not inherited; it is something that is learned. Their goal is "to reinforce that it doesn’t matter what skin color you are; you are a human being and worthy of respect and dignity” (Crayon Project). For the entire week, members of the Multicultural Club and Art Honor Society sold paper hearts for $1 that were purchased and then featured on the large bulletin board in the main cafeteria. Together we raised about $180.00. Thank you to all of the students that helped make this fundraiser possible. Special thanks to Ms. Amanda Procaccino, advisor of the Art Honor Society, and Mrs. Suzana Duby and Ms. Alicia Perez, Co-Advisors of the WE Multicultural Club.
