The Culture & Climate Committee helped spread over 2,500 positive messages this past month at WEHS with the “WE Compliment You” initiative! This new program, which began only last year, strives to send messages of kindness and positivity to students, faculty, substitute teachers, and staff anonymously. The committee wanted to spread positivity and kindness, acknowledging everyone's contributions to our WE community with a simple note.
Students and staff were sent a Google Form where they entered someone's name and a thoughtful comment. All the messages were submitted anonymously, placing the focus on the kind compliments, not who sent them. Ms. Fernicola and Ms. Hoebee sorted through all 2,500 and helped prepare them for distribution. They were printed, cut, and placed in envelopes with the help of Ms. Maidman, Ms. Minnella, and Ms. Comey. Mrs. Faggiani’s Bridges students helped distribute the compliments to students’ period 1 teachers, with the hope that everyone would open them at the same time!
Ms. Fernicola explained that this initiative has received tons of positive feedback, and students were absolutely thrilled to receive an envelope. She went on to say that the compliments were certainly a pick me up during a time of year where things can be a little slow.
