West Essex Culinary & Sports Nutrition Students Achieve Key Food Safety Certifications

In a significant achievement for the students of the Culinary Arts program, several groups have recently earned prestigious food safety certifications, equipping them with the essential skills to excel in the foodservice industry.
A total of 145 students from the Culinary Arts program proudly received their NJ State Food Handler Certifications, a vital credential that ensures they understand key food safety practices. This certification is a crucial step for anyone entering the culinary field, demonstrating a commitment to hygiene and health standards essential for working in kitchens and food service environments.
In addition, 10 Culinary Arts Honors students earned the highly regarded ServSafe Manager Certification, a nationally recognized credential that goes beyond the basics of food handling. The ServSafe Manager certification is specifically designed for those who will be responsible for overseeing food safety in restaurant or foodservice operations. This accomplishment not only showcases the students' dedication but also provides them with a competitive edge in the job market, signaling that they have the expertise to manage food safety at the highest level.
Finally, 17 students in the Food and Sports Nutrition program also received their NJ State Food Handler Certifications, complementing their specialized studies and offering them additional qualifications to work in diverse food-related careers, from nutrition counseling to food production.
