The Wessex Wire has earned top honors for Overall Excellence by the Garden State Scholastic Press Association and also been named Gold Medalist by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.  At the GSSPA’s Student Press Day, The Wessex Wire earned 972 out of 985 possible points for the categories coverage, writing/editing, and design.  The Wire also earned a first place prize from GSSPA for Artwork & Illustration from Sonya Solomonov (Class of 2019) for her editorial illustration for the story “Holiday sport:  A tradition like no other.”  This is the second consecutive year The Wire has won Overall Excellence and the third time since 2015.  Congratulations to adviser Mr. Chris Hermosilla and all editors and contributors.

For the fifth consecutive year, the West Essex High School literary magazine, The Roundtable, won the Gold Medalist award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.  The judges were impressed with the “quality and the variety of the literary and art pieces” and “the excellent word choice and the variety of subject matter of the poetry and prose.”  Congratulations to Editor-in-Chief, Theodore Press (Class of 2019), and advisors Ms. Virginia Dunphy (Retired) and Mr. Tom Collins.
